Hello! I am Bella who introduce Korea to you!
Today, I will introduce the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships which are the hottest issue in Korea!
Figure skating has emerged as a very popular sport thanks to Kim Yu-na in Korea!
There is a reason for this contest to become an issue in Korea!
Because Kim Yu-na won this contest after, no one has yet won it after her.
Koreans have many expectations!
First, I will explain to you about the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships.
It represents the Asian, African, American, and Oceanian continents except Europe, which is the ultimate destination of figure skating.
It is an international figure skating competition organized by the International Skating Union (ISU) where male and female figure skaters participate and compete.
Each country has three berths in all events. In February 2009, it was held in Vancouver, Canada.
At the Four Continents Championships, Kim Yu-na became the first Korean figure skater to win the event.
The rules of participation
They must be players from countries such as the Americas, Asia, Africa and Oceania, which have been approved by the ISU League.
Basically, a maximum of three players are allowed to compete in singles events per country and three teams in pairs and ice dance.
Competitors must be at least 15 years old before July 1 in the year in which the Four Continents Championships are held, and must pass the minimum technical points presented in the competition before they can compete.
But I became curious! Why is Europe not participating? Are there only Asian, African, American, and Oceanian countries participating in the games?
The answer is!
This is because the European players are better than the players of other continents.
Of course, that is not much better than Kim Yu-na in the women’s singles.
Now, Asian players are almost flying in women’s singles, but in the past, European female players are
It was amazing. And figure skating wasn’t just about one female single.
There’s men’s single, fair and ice dancing, almost all of which are European, although China is a powerhouse in the fair.
That’s why if all five continents come together, there’s a high probability that only European athletes will be in the medal table.
The competition that brings all five continents together is the World Championships.
Then, what about other European players on the four continents?
There is a competition called the European Championship. So, the European Championship: Four Continents Championships.
The ranking points are the same for the Four Continents and the European Championships. Of course, it is a competition where only European players are participating.
World Championships > Four Continents = European Championships
That’s the ranking! I got to know it for the first time!
Now that Korea’s ‘Yu-young’ has won the silver medal for the first time in 11 years since Kim Yu-na!
In Korea, it is the number one search word in real-time!
i want to let’s hope the players enjoy the game rather than the results of the competition!
How about a look? 🙂
