The 40th Blue Dragon Film Awards, the most prestigious film award in Korea, announced their list of final nominees.

A total of 18 categories will be presented at the 40th Blue Dragon Film Awards, which is scheduled to take place at Paradise City in Yeongjongdo, Incheon, on November 21. Films released between October 12, 2018 and October 10, 2019 were eligible for the nominations, which were selected through a survey of film industry experts. Although 18 awards will be presented at the ceremony, only 15 categories excluding the Chung Jung-won Star, Chung Jung-won Short Film Award, and the Most Popular Korean Film Awards have announced nominees.

This year, ‘Parasites’ has received 12 nominations in 11 categories including Best Work Award, Director’s Award, Best Male and Female Awards, Best Supporting Men’s and Best Staff Awards. ‘Extreme Job’, ‘Swing Kids’ and ‘Exit’ were nominated in eight categories while ‘SVAHA : THE SIXTH FINGER’ were nominated in seven categories..

‘Hummingbird’ and ‘The Battle : Roar to Victory’ received 5 nominations each. ‘Default’, ‘Birthday’ and ‘Tune In For Love’ were named in three categories, ‘Another Child’ and ‘Metamorphosis’ in two categories. ‘The most common romance’ ‘Miss & Mrs. Cops’, ‘Inseparable Bros’, ‘Maggie’ ‘Juror 8’, ‘By Quantum physics: A Nightlife Venture’, ‘Battle of Jangsari’, ‘Innocent Witness’, ‘A Registance’ received 1 nomination.

Five works of ‘Extreme Job’, ‘Parasites’, ‘Hummingbird’, ‘Swing Kids’ and ‘Exit’ were nominated and compete for this year’s Best Picture award.

The Blue Dragon Film Awards has been recognized as credible by fair and transparent screenings such as the ‘Blind Real Name System’, which reveals the jury’s evaluation results after the award ceremony. This year, it is already attracting hot attention to which works and filmmakers will be honored with awards.

The 40th Blue Dragon Film Awards, the best Korean film festival to mark the finale of 2019, will be held on November 21 in Paradise City, Yeongjongdo, Incheon, and will be aired live through SBS. Prior to the awards ceremony, the nomination screening festival will be held in CGV Yeouido from November 11 to November 19 to receive the 40th Blue Dragon Film Award nominations for free.
