As the 70th Berlin International Film Festival kicked off today (20th), ‘The Woman Who Ran’ has been nominated to compete at the annual festival and ‘Time to Hunt’ has been nominated to non-competitive category. In particular, attention has been focused on whether Hong Sang-soo’s latest film “The Woman Who Ran” is been honored.
The Berlin International Film Festival, which opens today, is one of the three international film festivals, along with the Cannes and Venice International Film Festivals.
Above all, director Hong Sang-soo’s seventh film enters the competition directory of the Berlin Film Festival, and is expected to screen in competition three years after ‘On the Beach at Night Alone’ in 2017.
In 2017, actress Kim Min-hee won the Best Actress with ‘On the Beach at Night’, becoming the first Korean to win the award at the Berlinale.
‘The Woman Who Ran’ tells about Gam-hee (Kim Min-hee), who meets three of her friends by chance while her husband went on a business trip, who had never been apart since his marriage.
‘The Woman Who Ran’ is his 24th feature as well the seventh film starring his muse Kim Min-hee, actors Seo Younghwa, Kim Sae-byuk, Song Sun-mi and Kwon Hae-hyo appeared.
It will be screened for the first time as a press screening at the Berlinale Palast, the main theater of the festival, at 9 am local time on the 25th, will be officially screened on 26-28.
Meanwhile, ‘Time to Hunt’ directed by Yoon Sung-hyun is the first Korean work to be shown in the Berlinale’s special gala section, which spotlights films of current topics and creative format. The film’s cast includes Choi Woo-sik, Lee Jee-hoon, Park Jung-min, and Ahn Jae-hong, Park Hae-soo.
The 70th Berlin International Film Festival will be held from Feb. 20 to March 1.
