BTS archives fourth No. 1 album on Billboard 200 chart

BTS lands fourth top place on the Billboard Main Album chart, Billboard 200.

On March 1 (local time), the US Billboard reported an article titled “BTS archives fourth No. 1 at the Billboard 200 chart with ‘MAP OF THE SOUL: 7’.”

Billboard said, “Before Map of the Soul: 7, BTS LED THE Billboard 200 with its last three charting albums: Map of the Soul: Persona (2019), Love Yourself: Answer (Sept. 2018) and Love Yourself: Tear((June 2018). The group has now racked up four albums in a little more than one year and nine months’ time.”

The remarkable record is that “The last group to generate four No.1s faster than BTS was the Beatles, who took just one year and five months (July 1966-January 1968).” ‘MAP OF THE SOUL: 7’ along with its previous three albums became the 10th non-English album that was ranked first in the Billboard 200. ”

Billboard added, “The new album sold 422,000 albums in the US during the first week from February 21 until February 27. ‘MAP OF THE SOUL:7 sold 347,000 copies, 26,000 digital music downloads were converted into album sales, and streaming number was converted into album sales by 48,000.”

The album sales volume of ‘MAP OF THE SOUL: 7’ is one group after the One Direction’s album which recorded 459,000 pieces in December 2015, the highest record in about 4 years, and released in 2020 as physical album sales volume. “It was the highest ranking album ever made.”

Billboard said, “MAP OF THE SOULD:7 ‘s overall first week units of 422,000 and its first week sales of 347,000 are high-water marks are meaningful records for BTS. BTS’s first-week album sales continue to grow. ”
