BLACKPINK appeared in the documentary on the 20th anniversary of Coachella. The global status of BLACKPINK, which marked the monumental moments of America’s largest music festival along with world-class pop stars, was once again confirmed.
BLACKPINK appeared in the chapter ‘THE NEXT GENERATION’ of Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert, released on April 11.
BLACKPINK, who appeared after Beyonce in the documentary, showed explosive performance and singing ability even if it was their debut stage of Coachella.
The audience enthusiastically shouted at each action of BLACKPINK.
BLACKPINK said in an interview with the production staff, “I thought no one knew our music, but everyone started shouting ‘BLACKPINK IN YOUR AREA. It was a really exciting moment.’
World-renowned R&B singer Khalid greeted the members in search of BLACKPINK’s waiting room. Khalid cheered BLACKPINK by singing the chorus of ‘Ddu-Du Ddu-Du’ directly, saying, “Congratulations on the debut of the best K-pop girl group at Coachella”.
In addition to Khalid, Coachella founder Paul Tollett, American rapper Jaden Smith, and DJ Diplo and more visited BLACKPINK’s. Celebrities from the music industry gathered to celebrate BLACKPINK’s debut of Coachella.
BLACKPINK was invited to serve as a sub-headliner at the Coachella Sahara stage in Indio, California last year. Those who appeared on the stage on behalf of the K-Pop group made a strong impression by showing their overwhelming influence and ripple effects.
It has become a hot topic both in the US and globally. BLACKPINK’s Coachella performances were streamed live on the big screen in Times Square, New York, and crowds of fans watched it in the rainy weather.
Started in 1999 and proud of tradition and authority, Coachella attracts 200,000 to 300,000 audiences every year.
It is a popular ‘dream stage’ that many musicians aspire to because it selects and invites artists with musicality beyond usual popularity. It is a festival not only for music, but also for the exchange of trends across culture, such as fashion and lifestyle. Rescheduled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Coachella 2020 is currently scheduled for Oct. 9-18.
Since last year, BLACKPINK has successfully completed 32 world tours concerts in 23 cities on 4 continents and 4 dome tours in 3 cities in Japan. BLACKPINK is currently preparing for a comeback.
