Grand prize winners, Lee Bo-young, Kim Soo-hyun, and Cho Seung-woo to return with upcoming dramas

Actors who won the ‘Best Actors’ return with tvN dramas and expectations are high.

◆ Lee Bo-young = ‘When My Love Blooms’ to premiere in April

Actress Lee Bo-young, who won the grand prize for ‘I Can Hear Your Voice’ at SBS Drama Awards in 2013, is ready to meet viewers with tvN’s every Saturday & Sunday through her drama ‘When My Love Blooms’.

‘The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Blossom’ (written by Jeon Hee-young, directed by Son Jung-hyun, hereinafter ‘When My Love Blooms’) is a romance drama about Jae-hyun and Ji-soo, two characters who experienced their first love together in their twenties but which didn’t last. Their paths cross again twenty years later when everything has changed.

In a drama, Lee Bo-young played the role of Yoon Ji-soo, a woman who grew up in a wealthy family, but is now a mother and contract worker living a difficult life. Yoon Ji-soo is a strong-hearted person who encounters Han Jae-hyun (played by Yoo Ji-tae), who has become a successful businessman, while undergoing hard work and experiences emotional changes.

‘When My Love Blooms’ is set to air on tvN at 9 pm starting from April 25.

◆ Kim Soo-hyun = ‘It’s Okay to Not be Okay’ first broadcast in June

Kim Soo-hyun, who won the grand prize with ‘The Producer’ at KBS Drama Awards in 2015, announced his returning to tvN’s new drama ‘It’s Okay to Not be Okay’.

The drama, written by Jo Yong, directed by Park Shin-woo, is a fantasy fairy-tale romance drama where Kang Tae (Kim Soo-hyun), a guardian at a psychiatric ward who refuses to love under the heavy weight of life, and Moon-young (Seo Ye-ji), a storybook writer suffering from an antisocial personality disorder, heal each other’s emotional and psychological wounds.

In the drama, Moon Kang-tae is a character who has lived a life of devotion after losing his parents when he was young and taking care of his older brother with autism spectrum disorder. He has no dreams, no vague hopes that his life will improve. He’s just struggling day after day, his only hope being that he can sleep and have meals with his brother.

Kim Soo-hyun has starred in a number of works such as ‘Moon Embracing the Sun’, ‘My Love from the Star’, and ‘The Producers’, and has been loved as a ‘Representative Hallyu Star’.

After being discharged from the military in July last year, Kim Soo-hyun starred as a cameo in two dramas, “Hotel Del Luna” and “Crash Landing on You”, sparking expectations for full-scale activity.

After these short appearances, Kim Soo-hyun’s strong presence and visuals made expectations for “It’s Okay to Not be Okay” even higher.

The upcoming drama ‘It’s Okay to Not be Okay’ is scheduled to air in June.

◆ Cho Seung-woo = ‘Stranger 2’ to air in the second half

Actor Cho Seung-woo, who won the grand prized for ‘The King’s Doctor’ at MBC Drama Awards, is expected to meet the viewers in ‘Stranger’ Season 2.

‘Stranger 2’ (written by Soo-yeon Lee, directed by Hyun-Seok Park) tells the story of prosecutor Hwang Si-mok who, as a child, lost the ability to feel empathy and Bae Doona who is righteous, and warm hearted. Writer Lee Soo-yeon, who was praised for her meticulous script along with the two actors has joined the team again.

In the last episode of Season 1, the prosecutor Hwang Si-mok (Cho Seung-woo) was transferred to the Tongyeong branch office in Namhae, South Gyeongsang Province as he tries to uncover the hidden truth between prosecutors and sponsors.

In particular, Cho Seung-woo is considered as a role model for many actors. More attention is focused on Hwang Si-mok, the new character that Cho Seung-woo will show. ‘Stranger 2’ is scheduled to air in the second half of this year.
