Big Hit Entertainment announced its position in relation to a report called “Idols visited Itaewon” a visit by BTS Jungkook to Itaewon during the social distance period.
Big Hit said on the 18th through official data, “Jungkook visited restaurants and bars in Itaewon with friends in the evening of April 25. After the visit, there were no any virus symptoms such as coughing and fever, and he was voluntarily tested negative at a screening clinic”
The agency added “Currently the artist himself is deeply regretful for not having faithfully contributed to the entire society’s social distancing efforts. The company is doing its best to follow COVID19-related guidelines and precautions such as distance in life.”
“We will be more thorough to avoid this kind of problem again.”
The reason for responding to the media inquiries earlier was “We cannot prove the artists’ privacy.” Big Hit said, “(Jungkook) visited about a week before the first confirmed person went to Itaewon. In addition, we decided that it was not appropriate to disclose the artist’s personal life to the public because we had taken measures such as voluntarily undergoing corona virus tests in accordance with government guidelines.”
The statement added, “There is no room for excuse regarding the fact that we, as the agency of the artist in question, had not properly recognized the heavy importance of social distancing and prioritized the protection of the artist’s private life over it. We bow our heads to everyone in apology.”
Earlier on this day, one news outlet reported that four k-pop stars including BTS member Jungkook, SEVETEEN’S Minkyu, NCT’S Jaehyun, and Astro’s Cha Eunwoo have spent a night out together in Itaewon from the evening of April 25 until dawn on April 26 during the golden week period.
