Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite to make history again on the 2020 Baeksang Arts Awards?

How many trophies will Bong Joon-ho’s “parasite” grab at the Baeksang Arts Awards?

At the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards held today (5th), “Parasite” were nominated for 12 in 10 categories. The movie was listed in all categories except the New Director Award.

The nominations for the Best Acting Award include Song Kang-Ho – ‘Parasite’, Lee Byung-hun – ‘The Man Standing Next’, Lee Je-hoon – ‘Time to Hunt’, Cho Jung-seok – ‘Exit’, Han Seok-gyu – ‘Forbidden Dream’, Kim Sojin – ‘Another Child’, Kim Hee-ae – ‘Moonlit Winter’, Jeon Do-yeon – ‘Birthday’ Jeong Yumi – ‘Kim Ji-young, born 1982′, Jo Yeo-jung – ‘Parasite’.

‘Parasite’ started at the Cannes International Film Festival’s Golden Palm Awards last year and swept the trophy at awards at home and abroad. At the American Academy Awards, it won four crowns, including the Director of Work Award, and wrote a new Korean film history. It also received 5 crowns in the previous Daejongsang, and showed its reputation properly. Indeed, it is paying attention to whether “Parasite” will sweep trophies at the Baeksang Arts Awards.

This year’s Baeksang Arts Awards honours outstanding achievements in movies, TV shows and theatre productions provided by terrestrial, cable, OTT, and web from April 1st of last year to April 30th of this year. A group of experts representing each category recommended the judges, and the judges by division were appointed to select the finalists.

Hosted by Shin Dong-yup, Park Bo-Gum and Suzy, the rescheduled show will proceed without an audience due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
