Netflix confirmed the production of a new original series ‘D.P’ based on Kim Bo-tong’s popular webtoon.
Netflix decided to produce the original series ‘D.P’ in cooperation with Han Jun-hee, the director of the movie ‘Chinatown’ and ‘Bangban’. Netflix’s original series ‘D.P’ is a story about a confused youth, Lee Jun-ho, who became ‘Deserter Pursuit’, while serving in the army.
‘D.P’ received the best Korean comic award of ‘Today’s Korean Cartoon Award’ hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. This is a hot topic that recorded more than 10 million views that realistically depicts the brutal behaviors and human rights issues in the army with a fresh material called D.P (Deserter Pursuit).
‘D.P’ will be directed by Han Jun-hee who was invited to the 68th Cannes International Film Festival Criticism Week with his debut film ‘Chinatown’, and became the sensation of Chungmuro. Kim Bo-tong, the cartoonist who created the story, will also direct ‘D.P’ with director Han Jun-hee. ‘D.P’ will depict interesting episodes, while expressing anguish and emotional pain of a soldier, who arrests escaped soldiers. Resin Studio, which produced drama ‘How’ and Netflix series ‘Hell’, will produce ‘D.P’.
‘D.P’, which attracts much attention early on as a series of original works loved by novel materials and heavy messages, will meet viewers from 190 countries around the world through Netflix.
