Choi Jong-beom, 28, charged with alleged assault and intimidation by his ex-girlfriend, the late singer Goo Hara, was sentenced 1 year imprisonment in the appeal court.
On the afternoon of the 2nd, Seoul Metropolitan District Court’s first sentence was held on the day of appeals against the final offense charged with violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Violent Crimes (using cameras, etc.) and injuries.
On this day, the court sentenced Choi Jong-beom to a sentence of one year in prison and immediately arrested him. At the first trial held on May 21, the prosecution sentenced three years as the first trial.
Choi Jong-beom was investigated by police in September 2018 for assaulting Goo Hara with each other at Goo Hara’s house in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Subsequently, Goo Hara revealed that Choi Jong-beom sent and threatened ‘revenge porn’ and charged him with further charges of coercion, intimidation, and violation of the Sexual Offenses Act.
He was prosecuted for prosecution of the assault charges, and the final offender was accused of charges of infringement of special law, such as threats, coercion, injuries, property damage, and punishment of sexual assault crimes.
Choi Jong-beom was sentenced to three years of probation in one year and six months of imprisonment in the first trial in August last year. Allegations of intimidation, injury, property damage and coercion were found guilty, but charges related to illegal shooting were convicted. Both Choi and the prosecution appealed to the first sentence.
Meanwhile, Goo Hara was found dead on the 24th of last year at her home in Cheongdam-dong.
