Director Jung Ji-young of the movie ‘Unbowed’ and production company Aura Pictures have been accused of embezzling a subsidy from the Korean Film Council(KOFIC).

On behalf of screenwriter Han Hyun-geun, a public interest reporter, Yang Tae-jeong, attorney at Goodroy’s Public Interest Reporting Center, announced on the 24th that he will file a complaint with the Seoul West District Prosecutor’s Office for business embezzlement and subsidies management law violations against director Jung Ji-young and Aura Pictures on behalf of screenwriter Han Hyun-geun.

One writer argued that director Jung and the production company had embezzled by depositing the funds supported by the KOFIC into the staff account and receiving it back to the producer’s account to improve the treatment of the staff. It is argued that such a thing happened when the production of ‘Unbowed’ in 2011 and ‘Namyeong-dong 1985’ in 2012.

It is also expected that he wrote the script for ‘Unbowed’ by himself, and claims that he registered him as a joint scriptwriter under the force of Director Jung.

Director Jung Ji-young made his debut in 1982 with ‘The Fog Whispers Like a Woman’ and prosecuted social accusations such as ‘Southern Army’ in 1990, ‘White War’ in 1992, ‘Unbowed’ and ‘Namyeong-dong 1985’ in 2012, and ‘Black Money’ in 2019. I have mainly made movies. He is currently filming the movie ‘Boys’.
