In the aftermath of the second wave of the Covid-19, film community is stagnating, and Uhm Jung-hwa’s ‘Okay! Madam’ turned on a red light to the box office.
On the 24th, according to the integrated computer network for movie theater admissions by the Korea Film Promotion Commission, on the 23rd, ‘Deliver us from Evil’ mobilized 61,784 people on 1435 screens to maintain the number one box office. The cumulative audience was 4,105,616.
‘Tenet’, which is about to be released on the 26th, ranked second. ‘Tenet’, which held the premiere screening on the 23rd following the last 22nd, attracted a total of 84,608 people on both days of the weekend amid controversy over whether it was actually an anomalous release due to a paid preview before its release.
‘Okay! Madam’, who stayed in third place, recorded 35,583 daily audiences and 1,315,328 cumulative audiences. Break-even point of 2.5 million breakthrough seems virtually impossible.
The fourth place was ‘Crayon Shin-chan: Honeymoon hurricane – Disappeared dad’. The total number of audiences was 62,656 by collecting 11,739 people.
Meanwhile, a total of 369,546 people visited the theater district on the weekend. This was a marked decline compared to 1,253,391 people last weekend. For the time being, it is expected that ‘Deliver us from Evil’ and Nolan’s new work ‘Tenet’ will compete for the title of the film mobilized the most viewers.
