‘The Swordsman’ Jang Hyuk “I learned sword martial art for this film”

Actor Jang Hyuk revealed his feelings of digesting the swordsmanship action.

Jang Hyuk said at an online press conference for the chase historical drama action film ‘The Swordsman’ (directed by Choi Jae-hoon, produced by Opus Pictures) held on the morning of the 17th through a live YouTube channel, “expressing with a sword is different from a sense of distance from the hand. I had to do an action with the opponent with a sense of the length of the sword, so I had to clearly check the movement line.”

He added, “Because of the sharpness of the sword, the eyes of the characters emanating from it are different from the normal action. Since the title is ‘The Swordsman’, what these people have to express through the sword was very different from the existing naked action.”

“I couldn’t act in natural way, until before being familiar with the sword. The swordsmanship action we encountered a lot had a lot of unmanned and longevity postures, but it was necessary to use it anomalously for my character, Taeyul, so it was necessary to quickly grasp the situation with a horseback posture rather than standing. I used a lot of body, so I practiced lowering my posture. There should be an overall color that the sum of actions shows. Unlike other characters, I focused on the practical part.”

As for Jo Taslim, who was engaged in action breathing, he was satisfied that “we trained very well and basically had a sense of speed. The ending scene was also finished faster than I thought. As a friend who continued training, the sum was really good.”

‘The Swordsman’ is a real chase action movie that begins when the best swordsman of Joseon, who left the world after the demise of Gwanghaegun, raised his sword again to find his missing daughter. This is the first feature film directed by Choi Jae-hoon, and starred by Jang Hyuk, Jo Taslim, Jung Man-sik, Kim Hyun-soo, Lee Na-kyung, and Lee Min-hyuk. The film is the first feature film of Choi Jae-hoon, who was in charge of’Anatomy Class’ art. It will be released on the 23rd.
