Japanese coach Naomi Kawase was disappointed that he could not visit Busan in person.
On the afternoon of the 22nd, an online press conference for the 25th Busan International Film Festival gala presentation film ‘True Mothers’ was held, while director Naomi Kawase and programmer Park Sun-young attended.
Director Naomi Kawase expressed an upset heart about meeting the reporters online due to the COVID-19, saying, “I am sorry that I could not go in person.”
She said, “My relationship with the Busan Film Festival goes back to the beginning of my film life. I have screened many other films in Busan from my early work. It’s a pity that I couldn’t go to this time because I have such a relationship. Isn’t it the situation caused by the pandemic. The whole humanity is suffering a disconnection. Among them, if a movie is shown and the light that I want to convey through the movie is transmitted, I would be grateful.”
On the other hand, ‘True Mothers’ is a family mystery depicting a process in which an unidentified woman who claims to be the mother of a child calls one day to a couple with a 6-year-old son, and their daily lives are shaken. Following the official invitation to the 73rd Cannes International Film Festival, it was selected as an invitational film for the 25th Busan International Film Festival Gala Presentation and will be released for the first time in Korea.
