[2020 BIFF] ‘Minari’ Han Ye-ri “I like the director’s impression, strangely build up faith”

‘Minari’ Han Ye-ri revealed her impressions of appearance.

On the afternoon of the 23rd, an online press conference for the 25th Busan International Film Festival gala presentation film ‘Minari’ was held. Director Lee Isaac Jung, actors Yoon Yeo-jung, Stephen Yeon, and Han Ye-ri attended. Senior programmer Nam Dong-cheol was also with them.

Han Ye-ri said, “When I met the director, I had a good impression. I don’t speak English, but the belief that I could communicate with the director was strange.”

“Monica has a Korean aspect. Monica had what she saw through my mother, aunt, and grandmother. I wanted to be able to do it. I thought I could make Monica with the director.”

‘Buttercup’ tells the story of a Korean family who went to a farm in Arkansas, USA in pursuit of the American Dream in the 1980s. Korean director Lee Isaac Jung, who entered the Cannes International Film Festival with the movie ‘Munyurangabo’ and received the grand prize at the AFI Film Festival, grabbed the megaphone. It was selected as an invitation to the 25th Busan International Film Festival Gala Presentation.
