The documentary ‘In The Absence’ (director Lee Seung-jun), which was nominated for an Academy Award along with ‘Parasite’ in 2019, was produced as a barrier-free version with a screen commentary by actor Lee Jung-eun.
As part of the 10th Seoul Barrier-Free Film Festival’s ‘Barrier-Free Short Film Production Support’, the Barrier-Free Film Commission finished recording the screen commentary of ‘In The Absence’ with director Lee Seung-jun and actress Lee Jung-eun participated in the 10th Seoul Barrier-Free Film Festival.
‘In The Absence’, which received attention as a short documentary nomination at the Academy Awards last year, raises questions about the absence of the country, focusing on the video and call records of the scene of the Sewol ferry disaster, which killed 304 people.
Director Lee Seung-jun said, “April 16, 2014 is the day when the whole people fell in pain and sorrow. I hope that more people will remember the day when the Sewol ferry disaster happened through the barrier-free version of ‘In The Absence’.”
The barrier-free version of ‘In The Absence’ can be enjoyed by anyone from November 25th to December 1st through the Korean film database KMDb VOD.
