Director Bong Joon-young talks about ‘the powerful power of money’. Through the movie ‘Lucky Monster’.
On the afternoon of the 18th, director Bong Joon-young said at the press release premiere of the movie ‘Lucky Monster’ (director Bong Joon-young) held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, “This film was shot in the middle of winter, in a month.”
Director Bong said, “The actors worked hard a lot, but the movie was released and I was relieved of my burden.
When asked about the starting point of the film, director Bong said, “I decided to do the movie and quit my job, and I was practically unemployed for five years. I realized the fear of money at that time. Money has a powerful power beyond the means of exchange.” I thought it was a huge honor like a superpower. I was curious to know what kind of chemical reactions and explosions would occur when a person who was socially driven into a blind spot with such a subject had such money. That was the start of the film.”
Actor Kim Do-yoon, who played the lead role in the movie, expressed his feelings, saying, “I hope that the first main role will not be the last one.”
“The story I always talked about before filming with the director was to make a fun movie,” he said. “I hope that the audience will also come to watch and have fun. There are movies like this for independent movies. I hope you enjoy watching them.”
‘Lucky Monster’ is a search for his wife Sung-ria (Jang Jin-hee) who disappeared after a stomach divorce after Do Maeng-soo (played by Kim Do-yoon), who is living a life of debt, won the lotto first place at the signal of a mysterious hallucination lucky monster (Park Sung-jun). Picture what’s going on as you step out. Kim Do-yoon, who played an active part as a scene stealer in various movies, took the lead role. Released on December 3.
