Actress Kim Mi-gyeong expressed a deep sympathy for the movie ‘Kim Ji-young Born 1982’, a film that she played the role of Kim Ji-young’s mom, Mi-sook.
Actors Kim Mi-gyeong and Jang Young-nam appeared as guests in the JTBC entertainment program ‘Movie Room’, which aired on the 3rd.
To the question “Have you read the original novel,” Kim Mi-gyeong replied, “I met the director for the first time and decided to appear on that day, bought a book, and read it only then.”
“Because I was born in 63, I’m a generation that has passed through such absurd and ridiculous discriminations against women. When I was young, there were a lot of things I couldn’t believe even when I was going to relatives’ houses or meeting friends,” she said.
At the same time, she added, “(In the movie reaction) there is a conflict between empathy and extreme opinions, which was very confusing.”
The film ‘Kim Ji-young Born 1982’ (director Kim Do-young), which was released in 2019, is a film based on the same name novel ‘Kim Ji-young Born 1982’ published in 2016 by Cho Nam-joo. This film, which depicts the pain of a patriarchal society and women, centered on Ji-young (Jung Yu-mi), an ordinary woman who was born in 1982 and lives in 2019 as someone’s daughter, wife, colleague and mother.
Kim Mi-gyeong said, “I thought this all made sense. I thought it would be a transition to a fair and natural world. I really wanted to try this story at least once, so I chose the work.”
On the other hand, JTBC entertainment ‘Movie Room’ is broadcast every Sunday at 10:30 am.
