In 2021, the group GOT7 celebrated the’Seven Years of Devil’.
GOT7 debuted in January 2014, and this month marks the end of the 7-year exclusive contract period according to the standard contract. Ahead of the expiration of the contract, at the end of last year, member Jinyoung’s transfer of BH Entertainment made money, followed by Yugyeom’s transfer to AOMG on the 6th and attracted extraordinary attention.
According to this, Yugyeom decided to leave the current agency JYP Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as JYP) ahead of the expiration of the exclusive contract. After JYP, the move has not been decided, but it is a message that the hip-hop label AOMG was influential and held a meeting with the related party.
JYP is cautious about the continued member transference. As the contract period remains, and the discussion is not over, JYP is cautious about the position, saying, “We are still discussing the renewal of the contract from various angles, and we will inform you at the time of arrangement.”
Although there is no official position regarding the members’ move, GOT7’s group activities are expected to become difficult due to circumstances if some members scatter while searching for individual agencies. As members are in different agencies, it won’t be easy to continue working as a group. Some people have a dark outlook on whether this is the de facto decommissioning procedure.
However, they are actively working in the global market beyond Korea, such as receiving the Worldwide Fans Choice Award at the ‘Mnet Asian Music Awards’ (MAMA) held last December. Even at this time, the 7th anniversary of their debut, the agency is deeply concerned in that it is the representative boy group of JYP.
GOT7 is a 7-member multinational boy group composed of JB, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom. It is a global K-pop group loved by many hit songs such as ‘Hard Carry’ and ‘Not by the Moon’.
