Jeon Do-yeon and Jun-yeol Ryu return to a drama with deep emotions.
JTBC’s new drama ‘No Longer Human’, scheduled to be broadcast in the second half of 2021, confirmed the casting of Jeon Do-yeon and Ryu Jun-yeol, and started shooting in earnest. What kind of sensation the meeting of the other actors in the class and the production crew, which is said to be in the movie world, will cause the drama fans’ expectation.
‘No Longer Human’ tells the story of ordinary people walking toward the light who suddenly realize that ‘nothing has been done’ at the middle of a downhill road in life. The story of Boo-jeong(by Jeon Jeon), a woman who lost her way, and Kang-jae (Ryu Jun-yeol), a man at the end of his youth who is afraid of being able to do nothing, and two men and women facing intense darkness, heal the heartache and empathize with them.
‘No Longer Human’ emerged as the best topic at once just by meeting Jeon Do-yeon and Ryu Jun-yeol. The meeting of the production staff of the ‘Life Work Maker’, who raises trust even if only the name is heard, guarantees completeness. The fact that it is the first drama chosen by director Heo Jin-ho, the master of Korean melodrama, which created numerous masterpieces such as the movie ‘Forbidden Dream’, ‘Princess Deokhye’, ‘One Fine Spring Day’, and ‘Christmas in August’ is also a part of the drama fans’ excitement. The writing was written by Kim Ji-hye, who freely crosses the boundaries of laughter, tears, and emotions such as the movie ‘Wish’, ‘My Love, My Bride,’ and ‘Architecture 101’. Jeon Do-yeon, who returned to the drama after five years after ‘Good Wife’, who received great love, took on the role of ‘Boo-jeong’, a ghostwriter who wanted to become a writer. She has tried her best, but one day she faces herself, who has failed, and loses the reason for her life. Infidelity, standing on the steep descent of life, crosses the line of darkness and walks into it. Jeon Jeon Jeon depicts a large emotional change that goes back and forth between the loss of negativity, anxiety, emptiness and loneliness, living with the chore of pain.
Jeon Do-yeon has proved her true worth in the bold works that have been talked about so far. Starting from the 1997 screen debut film ‘Connect’, ‘You Are My Destiny’, ‘The Shameless’, ‘A Man and a Woman’, ‘Birthday’, and ‘Beasts that Cling to the Straw’, etc. were poured out. She is an unrivaled actor who earned the feat of winning the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival with ‘Milyang’, which desperately captures the pain of her mother who lost her child. The three letters of the name are enough reasons to wait.
It is also noteworthy that Ryu Jun-yeol’s unprecedented transformation, who crosses various genres and shows unlimited acting. Ryu Jun-Yeol plays the role of ‘Kang-jae’, a role agency service operator. Kang-jae is a man who takes a risk to take off the genes of poverty and climb higher. Dreaming of a rich man’s life, he wandered in search of a shortcut, but lost his direction in front of a steep uphill without accomplishing anything. There, he meets a precarious woman infidelity (played by Jeon Jeon), and experiences emotional upheaval.
Actor Ryu Jun-yeol, who has a clear color of her own, is absolutely loved by the public through her ever-changing acting. With the success of the drama ‘Respond to 1988’, he became the mainstream in the movies ‘The King’, ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘Heart Blackened’, ‘Little Forest’, ‘Believer’, ‘Hit-and-Run Squad’, ‘Money’, ‘Battle of Fengwudong’. He continued his transformation without limits and established himself as an irreplaceable actor.
Although he pretends to be an adult, he is like a tender boy, and he is cynical, but in the corner of his heart, viewers are looking forward to seeing how Ryu Jun-yeol will create the complex interior of a warm Kang-jae who wants to become someone’s need. Above all, attention is focused on the synergy of Jeon Do-yeon and Ryu Jun-yeol, who will match the breathing smoke that is decomposed into steel and negativity in front of intense darkness with their respective wounds.
Director Heo Jin-ho, who remembered Jeon Do-yeon and Ryu Jun-yeol from the moment he first read the script, said, “The melodious genre that needs to draw viewers’ sympathy without a stimulating device is a difficult genre. I want to implement it with the acting of two actors who compete with sincerity,” he said. “I am grateful and excited just to work with the two actors in the first drama. I am trying to capture the story of lonely injustice and Kang Jae with a warm gaze.”
Meanwhile, JTBC’s new drama ‘No Longer Human’ will be broadcast in the second half of 2021.
