Jung Joon-young, who is serving time on charges of collective sexual assault, will testify at the trial of Seung-ri (real name Lee Seung-hyun), a former member of Big Bang.

On the morning of the 19th, the 10th trial was held at the General Military Court of the Ground Operations Command in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, on charges of prostitution arrangement, embezzlement, and violation of the Special Police Act.

On this day, the court announced that Jung Joon-young will appear as a witness at the 11th trial scheduled for the 26th. Jung Joon-young was sentenced to five years in prison in September last year on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (special level of rape) and is currently under execution. The court coordinated the schedule with the prison where Jung Joon-young is serving his sentence and adopted him as the next witness to the trial.

Jung Joon-young is a member of the “Burning Sun” group chat room, which he used to hang out with Seung-ri, former FT Island member Choi Jong-hoon, and former CEO Yoo In-seok of Yuri Holdings. He was initially asked to appear as a witness in November last year, but was absent due to poor health such as mental and physical weakness. In response, the court re-requested attendance, saying, “If you do not attend without justifiable reasons, you will be fined or forced to seek a job.”

Jung Joon-young, who was reunited with his once best friend Seung-ri in court for the first time in three years, is expected to question witnesses regarding prostitution, prostitution, and special assault teacher charges.

Meanwhile, Seung-ri was indicted without detention early last year after 17 police investigations after being cited as a key figure in the Gangnam club Burning Sun scandal that erupted in February 2019. Seung-ri is facing nine charges, including violations of the Special Act on prostitution, prostitution, sexual violence, habitual gambling, violations of the Foreign Exchange Transaction Act, violations of the Food Sanitation Act, embezzlement, and specific economic crime-weighted punishment.

Seung-ri joined the military on March 9 last year ahead of a full-fledged trial and is being tried in a military court. Seung-ri only admitted to violating the Foreign Exchange Transaction Act among a number of charges, but denied the remaining charges.
