In the “MBC 100 Minute Debate”, lawmakers from the ruling and opposition parties will discuss the LH (Korea Land and Housing Corporation) speculation.
MBC’s current affairs and culture program “MBC 100 Minute Debate”, which will air at 11:35 p.m. today (16th), will feature Kwon Young-se, a member of the People’s Power, and Hong Young-pyo of the Democratic Party of Korea to discuss the speculation of LH (Korea Land and Housing Corporation).
Suspicions of land speculation by LH employees were raised on the 2nd.
LH employees, who obtained information on the development of the third new city in advance, bought over 3,000m2 of land in Gwangmyeong and Siheung worth 10 billion won for speculation purposes. In particular, the controversy grew further as suspicions were added that there were “tricks” such as splitting stakes for the right to move into apartments or planting rare water species tightly to receive more compensation. Criticism is mounting over the fact that employees of state-run companies established to stabilize the people’s housing rather took the lead in speculation by exploiting their expertise.
Is it possible to punish LH employees for land speculation? What is the breakthrough that can prevent the recurrence of similar situations? Amid heated political wrangling over the LH scandal, lawyer Kim Nam-geun, chairman of the reform legislative committee for a democratic society, and Kim Heon-dong, head of the real estate construction reform division, will appear to discuss legal issues and solutions related to the LH scandal.
