Online video streaming service Watcha will run CGV Watcha Hall, which will screen Watcha’s selections at 14 CGV theaters nationwide from April 1. Watcha hall is a project that is carried out as part of the MOU between Watcha and CJ CGV, and this is the first time that the OTT service operates a CGV special museum.

Watcha announced that reservations for CGV Watcha theater, which will be available on April 1, will begin on April 26. Watcha theater screenings can be booked on the CGV website or on the mobile app, and can be booked in conjunction with CGV in Watcha Pedia, a content evaluation and recommendation service.

You can find the Watcha Hall at 14 CGV movie theaters nationwide, including 6 in Seoul (Gangbyeon, Mok-dong, Wangsim-ri, Yongsan I-Park Mall, Sinchon Artreon, Yeongdeungpo), Gyeonggi and Incheon (Uijung, Ilsan, Dongsuwon, Jukjeon, Incheon), Daejeon and Chungcheong (Cheonanpentaport), and Busan (Seo, Centum City).

During the month of April, 11 works are available at the Watcha Theater. First of all, Watcha’s imported and distributed works “Little Joe” and “Swallow” can be seen in all 14 Watcha theaters. “Little Joe” is a movie about an incident that occurs after a researcher finds a strange flower that makes people happy, and Emily Beecham, the main character, won the Best Actress Award at the 72nd Cannes International Film Festival. The mystery thriller “Swallow,” which depicts a woman obsessed with the desire to swallow things that should not be swallowed, is also available at Watcha Hall.

Watcha will also feature six diversity film exhibitions, including director Kim Bo-ra’s Hummingbird, Microhabitat, Bleak Night, Moving On, The Worst Day, Cheer Up, Byung-hun, and re-runs for two weeks at 14 theaters. The movies “Architecture 101” and “Wolf Boy” that can feel the seasonality of spring are also included in the April screening, while director Park Chan-wook’s film “The Handmaiden” can be seen as an expanded version.

“We will be able to present various works selected by Watcha on the screen through the CGV Watcha Hall,” said Park Tae-hoon, CEO of Watcha. “We will continue to do our best to provide services that maximize customer satisfaction through cooperation with Wacha with vast taste data and CJ CGV.”

Watcha signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with CJ CGV in November last year to analyze integrated data based on film content and expand the area of platform business. The two companies will continue to cooperate in a wide range of ways, including operation of CGV Watcha hall, analysis and utilization of data integration, online and offline platform collaboration, expansion of business areas, and development of new data and platform-based businesses.
