“Yumi’s Cells” Kim Go-eun, Ahn Bo-hyun, Lee Yu-bi and Park Ji-hyun wake up viewers’ excited cells.

TVing original “Yumi’s Cells” (directed by Lee Sang-yeop, creator Song Jae-jung, screenplay by Kim Yoon-joo and Kim Kyung-ran, provided TVING, production studio Dragon, America Woo, and Studio N), which will be released simultaneously in the second half of 2021, will be cast and start filming.

“Yumi’s Cells,” a seasonal production, is a cell-level psychological romance that pleasantly unravels the love and daily life of ordinary office worker Yumi (Kim Go-eun) through the perspective of cells in her head. It depicts the process of Yumi eating, loving, and growing along the flow created by colorful cells such as reason, emotion, love, and desire.

Director Lee Sang-yeop, who showed sensuous production through “Shopaholic Louis” and “Familiar Wife,” took the megaphone. Song Jae-jung, who is absolutely trusted for her original and solid writing skills such as “Memories of the Alhambra Palace” and “W” participated as creators, while Kim Yoon-joo and newcomer Kim Kyung-ran, who received great love through “The Man’s Memory Method” and “Twenty,” make drama fans excited.

The original Naver webtoon “Yumi’s Cells” (written/pictured by Lee Dong-gun) is a legendary webtoon that began serialization in 2015 and achieved a phenomenal record of 3.2 billion views. It is one of the most popular webtoons in many people’s lives by melting Yumi’s daily life on the brilliant imagination of personification of cells. As the performance of various cells in charge of the flow of consciousness is important, it is produced in a fresh format that combines live and animation to enhance reality and maximize the beauty of the original work. An animation that will add three-dimensionalness to pleasant and lovely cells is expected to target the tastes of webtoon enthusiasts as well as drama fans.

Kim Go-eun played the role of “Yumi,” which heated up online as soon as news of the drama’s production broke. Yumi is an ordinary office worker who can’t escape the no-fun. Kim Go-eun delicately depicts the cells trying to wake up the “love cells” in a coma due to the shock of her past broken heart with the growth and change of Yumi in reality. The process of getting to know each prime cell (cell representing a person) that was asleep by looking into the world in Yumi’s head, love and daily life will be a different point to watch. I am already looking forward to Yumi to express Kim Go-eun, who has renewed her life character in every work such as “The King: The Lord of Eternality,” “Guardian” and “Cheese in the Trap.”

Ahn Bo-hyun, who is drawing attention as a popular actor, seeks to transform his acting into a game developer “Goo Woong,” who has an honest and plain algorithm of “Yes or No” thinking. As an engineering student to the core, he not only wakes up Yumi’s love cells with a weapon but also beats viewers’ hearts with his unique simple honesty that does not reconsider. Expectations are high for Ahn Bo-hyun’s acting transformation, which has imprinted a strong presence through “Kairos” and “Itaewon Class.”

Lee Yu-bi plays the role of “Ruby”, who has a great love skills. Ruby, who has mastered various love techniques, is a fox in front of love, but a warm-hearted and energetic youth who knows how to take care of my people. She has a charm that he can never hate, even though her whims who can’t stand out call out her fist. Lee Yu-bi adds her unique fresh and lively charm to unravel the character.
Goo Woong’s cute friend, Sae-yi, who is full of appearance, ability and ambition, is played by Park Ji-hyun. Sae-yi, who goes straight today dreaming of becoming the best game art director, is a “wannabe girlfriend” that everyone envies. Her ambiguous friendship with Goo Woong makes her appearance as a rival with Yumi, adding to the tension. Attention is also focusing on Park Ji-hyun’s performance, which has emerged as a newbie after being recognized for his acting skills in “Do you like Brahms?” and “Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung”.

“To maximize the beauty of the original work, we combined live-action and animation. We are preparing for a new format in the form of an episode and a seasonal drama consisting of 14 episodes per season,” said the official of Yumi’s cells. “We will visit viewers with new videos that have not been seen before while drawing sympathy.” “Please look forward to the synergy of actors who will add unique characters in their own colors.”

Meanwhile, ‘Yumi’s Cells’ will be released simultaneously on TVing and tvN in the second half of 2021.
