Actress Gong Seung-yeon announced her successful screen debut with “Aloners”.

On the afternoon of the 11th, a preview and press conference of the movie “Aloners” was held at the entrance of Lotte Cinema Konkuk University in Seoul. Director Hong Sung-eun, actors Gong Seung-yeon, Jung Da-eun and Seo Hyun-woo participated.

People Living Alone is a film about us, each with a single serving of loneliness.
They will deliver a message of sympathy and consolation to the 2030 Solo people who are fighting against loneliness. Hong Sung-eun is the director’s first feature film.

“Since my mid-20s, I’ve been living on my own making money. Since I live alone, I think this kind of life suits my constitution at that time. I didn’t want to get involved with people. I didn’t even think about getting married. Then one day, I happened to watch a documentary about solitude. At first, I didn’t think much and thought it was just a pity, but at some point I cried. I thought why I was affected by this,” Director Hong said.

“After continuing to think, I came to think that living alone, which I thought was complete, was actually incomplete,” she said. “It’s when a lot of people talk about drinking alone or eating alone, and I thought people were actually thinking the same thing as me.” “That’s how I ended up making a movie.”

Gong Seung-yeon plays Jin-ah, who is comfortable alone. Gong Seung-yeon said, “I sympathized with the character Jin-ah’s disconnection from people, but I couldn’t relate to it at the same time. It was complicated. It was hard to play a character. No facial expression, no words. “She’s a person whose daily life collapses when a stone is thrown from there.”

At first, I wondered if I could do it and thought about it. “When I was expressing my emotions in detail, I tried to understand the flow of the whole thing by looking at the edited version.”

Gong Seung-yeon, who played a veteran call center counselor, said, “I looked into call center counselors and they had a lot of turnover. So I asked a lot of people around me. My younger sister also had experience. I’ve heard a lot about people around me.

“I actually wanted to visit the call center, but I couldn’t because of personal information problems, so I used a YouTube teacher. The director wanted a high tone, without facial expression. To use a high tone, I had to raise my cheekbones and smile a little, but I had to do it without expression, which was the hardest thing to do while acting.”

Gong Seung-yeon won the actor’s award at the Jeonju International Film Festival for her first starring film, “People Living Alone.” “I’ve been told a lot during interviews that I’ve been an actor for years, and I’ve come to think if I’m the right actor for this year of my career. I haven’t been to an award ceremony or won an award for acting yet, so I went to the Jeonju Film Festival and received an award as an actor, so I cried from the greeting.”

“I’ll give you the honor of winning the award because of you.”It’s my first time winning an award, so I’m very grateful for it,” said Gong Seung-yeon.
